BE-ing Still....

Still...
Sit
quietly you say? Yeah, right! When might THAT happen with your busy
life?
But,
what's the cost if you Don't carve out time for stillness?
Do
you often feel overwhelmed?
Overloaded
and losing control over your day and the amount of time in it (which
is Never enough for me, how about you)?
Stalled,
plateau'd or spinning around in circles, going nowhere, faster?
What
is your 'normal' reaction to these feelings?
-Push
a little harder because you'll Really lose control if you even think
about pausing or stopping.
-Keep
plodding along because the weekend is just around the corner and you
can finally pause to breathe or get caught-up. (Never works for
me.)
-Pick
up a book, take a course or search the internet for something
'out there' to help you find a way out of the discomfort.
-Find
yet other things to 'do' to distract you from thinking about or dealing
with your issue of discontent.
Often
we equate being 'busy' with productivity/success but this fast-paced,
'do-do-do' American way of life actually diminishes our
effectiveness, our overall feelings of satisfaction and
well-being.
This
lifestyle creates high levels of stress which has long been known
to cause detrimental physical changes.
It
causes a disconnect from our core values and what matters most
to us, which is why so many of us are experiencing increasing feelings
of emptiness and sadness, even violence toward our 'neighbors'.
But,
what do we do with so many things on our plate, make that plates?!
If
you want to take control of your life and experience more of
life's miracles and joys, create time each day to still the inner
mind chatter.
Learning
to reside in stillness allows you to hear the whispers of your inner
being.
Going
within anchors you to the present moments where intuition is heightened
and possibility resides.
Embracing
silent moments is absolutely essential for your physical and emotional
renewal.
This
is the space where you connect with the universal wisdom and rhythm
because that is the energy field from which you were created.
Stillness
releases judgment/filters, invites curiosity and possibilities
by considering questions such as:
"What
do I want and how do I really want to feel?"
"What
do I need in order to embrace those feelings?"
"What
do I need to release?"
"Who
might be the perfect resource to provide...?"
"How
might I approach this from a different perspective?"
Welcome
your stall/plateau (a temporary halt in progress, according to Webster)
as your inner guide nudging you to slow down and take the opportunity
to look back and see how far you have traveled on your current path.
Reflect
on the choices and decisions that led you there.
Take
time to breathe in and appreciate where you are before rushing off
(usually mindlessly) to the next task.
Scan
the landscape surrounding you and determine which direction will best serve
and support the vision for your life.
Think
it's a coincidence that Spiritual leaders (including 'The
Secret' panel) and every successful person Living their dreams
has espoused the virtues of sitting in silence?
Uh,
No!
One
of the most effective breathing techniques I've found and use
to quiet my racing mind is from www.heartmath.com.
Focus
attention in the area of your heart.
Imagine
your breath flowing in and out through your heart. Breathe with ease
until you find a natural inner rhythm.
Shift
your breath so you are breathing in through your heart and out
through your solar plexus (4 inches below the heart, below the sternum).
Activate
any genuine feeling of appreciation as you breathe.
If
you find your mind wandering, focus your breathing back to the heart
and solar plexus.
Maintain
breathing for about 15 minutes.
I
envision the chakra colors, yellow for the solar plexus and
green for the heart and notice the energy field expanding outward.
Very
calming.
'Listen'
for any hunches, ideas or aha moments about what is in your highest
interest and how to move forward.
Act
on them.
Until next
time,
BE
in Gratitude today!
[I'm
delightfully in gratitude for my Packers to be 4-0 on the season!!!
They are definitely living Game Day On!].
